This is a wonderful piece! Fantastic work. I have a quick question as well. How do you start off a drawing? As in, what pencil setting and how many layers? I find starting and finishing drawings to be the hardest parts.
Wow. Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question. And if I may ask one more question... Have you taken lessons to get where you are now with your art? Like college or community classes?
Not really, there were art classes in school and at the place where I studied (Graphic Design), but most of what I know about drawing and painting, I learned "on my own", by analyzing drawings and paintings of other, much more experienced artists. By trying to understand what they do and how, and copying or emulating those elements.
There were also some online tutorials (written and videos) for certain things like how to use the software. And to a lesser degree also a few books, most important an "anatomy for artists" book.
The most important part though was to practice a lot.
Owww!! I just had oral surgery yesterday, and as soon as I saw this picture I smiled and it HURT! She's sooo cute I couldn't help it. I love Luna's Ready for the Prom pic, too. There's something about braces that make girls look 20% cuter. xD
Funny thing is I normally don't like kids. In fact, I usually cringe at the thought. But bright-eyed, big smiles, freckled, brace-face filly Celestia with a bow in her hair just made my day. And I had to clean the bathrooms at work today.
I just wanna playfully pinch those cheeks and go; "D'AWW, YOU'RE SO CUTE!!" and give her an apple as a reward for being so cute. Or give her a sugarcube. Pony princesses like sugarcubes, right?
